MMC Season Update 8.3.18

Hello Parents,

We would like to provide you with some upcoming dates of interest:

Rich Lennon Youth Football Clinic– Aug 6th– Aug 9th, 5pm - 8pm @ Battis Field with a cookout for players and families on Thursday the 9th.    We strongly recommend players comes to this clinic to get a jump on the season.  The clinic will cover technique, fundamentals and conditioning.

The teams in our division are having clinics as well and we want to give the kids every advantage we can. We realize it is an additional cost, but we are consistently $100 below other teams in our league for registration costs.

Meet & Greet- Friday August 10th,  – Middleboro High School – 5:30 pm with some light conditioning at the end.

Players and parents have to attend this meeting.  This will give you an opportunity to meet with coaches and you will get the layout and expectations of the season.

Equipment Pickup– Sunday morning, August 12th– Exact time TBD - MMC Trailers – across from MMC Club, 29 Elm St.   We would appreciate it if all players could get their equipment at this time.  With the season starting and practice we do not have the time to be running over to the trailers, this was a big problem last year.

We will be requiring a $100.00 equipment refundable deposit this year.  We have purchased new uniforms and helmets.  Please bring a check dated for 12/10/18.  If your equipment is not returned by this date, we will cash the check and also will be looking for the remaining balance to cover the cost of our equipment.  Last year equipment was a problem and I still have a few uniforms outstanding.  If you have a uniform from last year, please bring it to equipment pickup.  Our uniforms and equipment cost the program $450 per player, so we need to get these uniforms back especially since we now have new game uniforms, new helmets and will be providing practice shirts.  Equipment drop off dates will be announced towards the end of the season and these dates are expected to be met.  It is unfair to the volunteers to have to continuously run over to the trailers because someone could not drop the uniform off on the scheduled dates.  We had three equipment drop off dates last year. Again, your check will not be cashed, it will be held until your uniform is returned before 12/10/18.

We are a non-profit organization and it is essential that we get our equipment back for the next year. I would also like to note that other teams in the league require a $200-$300 equipment deposit.

Practice

Start date is August 13th, 5:30pm – 7:30 pm at the Middleboro High School.  Practice will be Monday – Thursday 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the high school.  Once school starts practice will be Tuesday – Thursday, 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Once we start to lose daylight we will be moving to the Pierce Playground, TBD.

We have great numbers this year and are looking forward to an exciting season.  We have moved to Division 3, this should help us re-gain our competitive edge.  We will still be running low contact practices and player safety is and will be on the forefront along with technique, execution of plays and conditioning.

Communication– The MMC website is up and running and this along with emails will be our major source of communicating to the parents and players.  Team Moms will be reaching out to you via Facebook to provide you with team updates for this season.  As always, we are always available for questions and concerns.  You can email us at  .

Apparel- We would also like to apologize for the confusion and delay in apparel last year.  This was very frustrating to the program.  We would like to announce that Monster Kolor will be handling all apparel this year.  After looking at different options, the program felt this was our best option. Monster Kolor has a storefront in downtown Middleboro, 54 Center Street.  This will provide parents and players to have a hands-on experience if they wish and/or their apparel can be ordered on line.  Apparel can be picked up either at the store or mailed to you directly.  The online store is open now until 8/21 as our first “store” offering.  Once this store closes to process those orders placed, we will have Monster Kolor re-open the store for another offering. We think this is a win-win for everybody and it is nice to keep the business in town.

The online store link is: https://stores.inksoft.com/mmc_2/shop/home

Looking forward to seeing everybody and enjoying a great season with our football family.

Thank you,

2018 MMC Youth Football & Cheerleading

Pre-Season Update

MMC Youth Football and Cheerleading will have a booth this year at Krazy Days on Friday, August 3rd & Saturday, August 4th to promote the program and for anyone that still needs signup information.  We are currently looking for flag and cheer signups to get more kids into the program.

On Saturday, August 4th from 10am to 5pm come on down for a chance to "Dunk a Coach".  Coach Bob Mosley and other coaches will be in the dunk tank, come by for a chance to dunk your coach!

Come on down to meet some of the volunteers that run the MMC Youth Football and Cheerleading program

The official 2018 season kicks off on Friday August 10th

Signups for the Rich Lennon clinic are still open for the dates of 8/6 - 8/9, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

We encourage all MMC players, flag and tackle, to attend the clinic.  We will have some great coaches down there.  Most towns in the league have a one or two week clinic before the season starts.  The clinic will give us a chance to work on the basics, technique and conditioning.  We want to give the kids the same advantage as our competition.

There will be a cookout on August 9th for players who attend the clinic, and their families.  This is a great way to meet your coaches and your teammates.

We are very proud to announce that we are getting new uniforms by Rawlings and new helmets by Xenith (X2E model).

We would also like to announce that we have rebooted the Cheerleading program.  We are currently still seeking signups to help round out the team.  We are excited about bringing some new energy into the Cheering program.  New uniforms for the Cheerleaders are also on the way.  Anybody that would like to sign up their daughter for Cheerleading, please reach out to the program.  It is important to MMC Football to have a strong Cheering program and for us to be one unit when we take the field.

If anyone has any questions on the above mentioned, please feel free to reach out to us at any time.  We are very excited to get the 2018 season underway.

Sincerely,

Bob Mosley

MMC YOUTH FOOTBALL 2018 SEASON

Registration will be open on April 1st for the 2018 season and will last for the month of April.  In order to secure your child's spot on the roster, please register your child for the 2018 season during the 30 day window provided.  More information about registering your child on line will be sent as we get closer to the registration date.

For the 2018 season, we will continue to have a high emphasis on player safety with low contact practices to minimize the chance of concussion.  We will also continue to work hard to teach your child the basic fundamentals, technique and execution of the playbook.

With some of the struggles we had last year competing against the Division 1 & 2 teams, we are moving the program to Division 3 and are grouped with teams that have similar roster counts, we will no longer be playing against Division 1 teams.

The MMC Youth Football Program is a 100% volunteer program and relies solely on volunteers throughout the season to help build a successful program.  All of our coaches, assistant coaches, equipment & safety managers, weigh in reps and fundraising committees are all volunteering their time for the players of the MMC program.

Prior to the start of the 2018 season, the MMC will reach out and ask parents to work with team parents on scheduling volunteer time, some of the ways you can help are:

  • Gate coverage for Varsity home games (2 volunteers per game) includes selling 50/50 raffle tickets at the gate.  There are 4 home Varsity games per team.
  • Concession coverage for JV home games (2-3 volunteers per game).  There are 4 home JV games for each team.
  • Chain Gang - Three people for each game are needed for the down marker and chains during home games.  You get a sideline view of the game!
  • Fundraising - by getting involved in fundraising efforts you can show your support for the players and the program.  Typically we offer 3 major fundraising efforts throughout the season, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

We are looking forward to the 2018 season, if you have any questions or concerns, please send an email to

  • Thank you,
  • Bob Mosley
  • MMC Chairman
